Big Chute Narrow Passages

Success - we made it from Penatang to Orilia today! It took 8 hours, 4 locks, 3 bridges and 5 very narrow passages with strong currents. What the hell, may as well start with the hard stuff first! Sue did well handling lines and positioning the boat in the locks. For my part, the boat did what was asked of it with little fuss; when in doubt - giver some throttle and she will go where you point her.

The most interesting lock of the day was the Big Chute Railway Lock (#43).  They basically pick up your boat on slings and lift you up a hill in a railway cart.  Very cool!

Over all a solid success. We will post some pictures when we have a bit more time, but we are both knocked out from a long day of activity - so we are turning in early and getting some rest for another big day tomorrow including a long transit across Lake Simco.

More to come!
